MASON CITY – Republican Senate candidate Joni Ernst visited Mason City Monday.
Ernst participated in a little-publicized “Chamber Roundtable” discussion at the North Iowa Commerce Center, 9 North Federal Avenue. Those in attendance were hand-picked by Chamber of Commerce Director Robin Anderson, a Republican source told NIT. The source said Ernst took easy questions from the small group of people, who were all Republican party supporters. Her campaign granted an interview to the Globe Gazette before the meeting, but made no announcement ahead of time that they would be in Mason City. Requests for information from the campaign went unanswered.
“Great afternoon in Mason City for a Chamber Roundtable with the Mason City Chamber of Commerce!” Ernst said via social media after her appearance.
Today, it was announced that Ernst received the endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a right-wing organization that oversees chambers of commerce across the country.
According to a press release, “The United States Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1912 and represents the interests of more than three million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions.”
