MASON CITY – A Mason City woman who tried to outsmart theft-detection alarms at Wal-Mart is now in jail.
Megan Young-Carr, age 27, had been wanted for weeks for failing to show up in court of charges of 5th degree theft and use of a theft detection device shield. She was finally arrested Wednesday by Cerro Gordo deputies and taken to jail.
Mason City police said that on January 14, 2014, Young-Carr was arrested for 5th degree theft at Wal-Mart. Police found a device on her person that she was allegedly using to defeat the merchandise alarms near the walk-out doors. She was then charged with the possession of a theft detection device shield which is a serious misdemeanor.
Young-Carr awaits a trial on July 3.
