LAS VEGAS – A mysterious monolith discovered in recent days in the desert surrounding Las Vegas has been removed by police.
“A lot of you have asked about the mysterious monolith that was recently spotted north of Las Vegas,” police in Sin City reported on Friday. “Yesterday afternoon, we assisted with the removal of the item due to public safety and environmental concerns.
“It is being stored at an undisclosed location while public authorities determine the most appropriate way to dispose/store the item. It is 77” tall and each face is 13” wide. It was made out of reflective sheet metal folded into a triangle and secured with rebar and concrete.”
The rebar and concrete can plainly be seen in a photo offered by police of the not-so-mysterious item.
These monoliths have appeared now and then over the years, fueling Internet speculation as to their origins. Folks not lost in the fog of web conspiracies understand that humans most likely created and placed the monoliths.
