DES MOINES – Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and a choir of Christian students from a private school bestowed a glowing light upon sinners everywhere Monday evening as the state Christmas tree was lit.

Governor Reynolds hosted the annual Capital Christmas Tree Lighting and Open House on Monday, November 27th at 4:00 PM at the state capitol. Her office sent out an advisory at 9:56 AM Monday morning to alert the public to attend.

“It’s almost like Kim wanted to make sure only the best people attended, and who can blame her,” one Iowa voter with a bright red hat on said. “Jesus is picky and we should be too. Accept him or face the consequences. Merry Christmas!”

Meanwhile, Reynolds pranced about in the snowy Capitol grounds with her perfect attendees. “The State Capitol is ready for the Christmas season!” a giddy Reynolds cackled as the day turned darker. Like a beacon of hope, though, the tree’s orbs glowed with nostalgia and the whispered promise of returning to yesteryear.

“Thank you to the Des Moines Christian Choir,” Reynolds proclaimed, and “our special guests Foster Squad, and the many state employees who donated gifts for foster children across Central Iowa.”

The woman in the red hat was probably Brenna Bird.
