Waterloo police investigate meth lab fire that injured one

WATERLOO – An apartment fire in Waterloo seems to have been caused by a portable meth lab.

On Tuesday, May 20th, 2014 at 1:45 PM, Waterloo Fire Rescue and the Waterloo Police Department responded to an apartment fire at 216 Brookeridge Drive, Apartment #4. Upon further investigation of the fire, investigators with the Tri-County Drug Enforcement determined that a portable methamphetamine lab inside the apartment had caught fire.

Two occupants where in the apartment at the time of the fire. A male occupant, Andy Archambault, age 51, was transported by ambulance to Covenant Medical Center and later air lifted to Iowa City Hospitals. His condition is not known at this time. A female occupant Andrea Archambault, age 47, was not injured.

This case remains under investigation.
