MASON CITY – A Wisconsin man is in the Cerro Gordo County Jail after failing to show up in court last November related to a case of felony eluding, felony theft and other charges.
On February 18th at about 4:30 PM, Randal Anthony Roberts, 30, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, was westbound on Highway 18 in Clear Lake and driving recklessly while law enforcement was pursuing when he ran a red light at North 24th Street and struck a pickup truck heading south on North 24th Street and turning east, causing about $1,000 damage to the pickup truck.
Roberts was apprehended and charged with second degree theft; no driver’s license; speeding; no seat belt; felony eluding; failure to respond to traffic signal; failure to yield and unsafe passing.
Roberts later pled guilty to felony eluding and felony theft and was placed on probation, sent to the Beje Clark halfway house for an undisclosed amount of time, and given suspended 5-year prison sentences. He was accused in November or violating his probation and was to show up in court on December 18, 2013. Roberts never showed up, and law enforcement could not locate him.
Roberts was caught this week by Wisconsin police and shipped to Mason City, and is now being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $10,000 cash only bind as he awaits a court date that has not yet been set.
