MASON CITY – No one ever accused all crooks of being smart. And as they say, after a few cold ones, your judgement starts to fade.
That may have been the case for a Clear Lake man, 48-year-old Bradley Ronald Watts, who showed up to the Cerro Gordo County Jail intoxicated to serve time for a recent drunk driving conviction.
Police said that Watts showed up to the jail on March 20 to serve a portion of a seven day sentence for at least his third charge of operating while intoxicated. He was placed under arrest and charged with public intox, which he immediately pled guilty to.
He was ordered to pay $195.00 in court costs and fees.
Regarding the drunk driving charge, Watts was caught by the Iowa State Patrol in July of 2013 and pled guilty on January 15, 2014. He was sentenced to seven days in jail and to pay $2,043.25 in court costs and fines. He has yet to make a payment on that balance, records show.
