MASON CITY – A sidewalk rehabilitation program continues in Mason City this summer.
The Sidewalk Program for 2013 includes approximately 40 residential locations, City staff said Tuesday. In addition to private sidewalk repairs, the City includes pedestrian ramps and when necessary alley approach sidewalks. The city bids the project through the competitive bidding process which is then awarded to the low bidder, City Engineer Mark Rahm said. The property owner has the opportunity to hire a city licensed contractor. If not, the repairs are completed by the city contracted contractor with the costs billed back to the property owner. The city is approximate 22 new pedestrian ramps with detectable warning panels.
The city is using $50,000 Road Use Funds to fund the project.
The project will be completed this fall.
