MASON CITY – A “Homes for Haiti” Fundraiser was held at the North Iowa Events Center last Saturday.
Despite the dark clouds and spitting rain, a good size crowd was enjoying the games, bouncy balloons, crafts, auction, bean bag tournament and food from the Rockwell Lions Club.
Michael Mahaffey was right up from selling out of a tent, “We have two daughters that live in the Dominican Republic,” he explained. “The money raised is employing people there and also providing funding for a school. So, 200 children, in Haiti, are receiving an education because of the products that we are selling here.”
It’s pretty neat to be involved in a project from such a far distance and know that we’re helping out to make a difference,” said Mahaffey.
