Forest City, Iowa – Michael Scarano, Athletic Director of Waldorf College since 2010, has announced hisresignation. The Scarano family will be returning to Riverside, California, where Michael has accepted a position at California Baptist University.
“We’re very grateful for Michael Scarano’s leadership and integrity in his service to the College,” said Dr. Robert Alsop, president of Waldorf College. “Waldorf’s athletic programs are in excellent shape, with outstanding coaches doing great things for our student-athletes. During this leadershiptransition, we will continue to put our students first, and provide them with an excellent athletic and educational experience.”
Scarano led Waldorf’s athletic department through a period of growth and change. Since his arrival, the College has created new programs in ice hockey, women’s wrestling, bowling and cross country. Many of the College’s teams also switched conferences, from the Midwest Collegiate Conference to the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference. Scarano was also involved in the Forest City community, participating in Shared Services projects and spearheading the Puckerbrush 5K run, among others.
President Alsop foresees a smooth transition. “We will begin a search for a permanent replacement immediately,” he said. “Denny Jerome has agreed to serve as interim athletic director as we begin our search. Denny has extensive experience in this position, and we are confident that our program will continue seamlessly.”
“In the meantime, we wish Michael and his family well in their new adventure,” Alsop concluded.
