WAVERLY – Police in Waverly say they responded to a call for help and rescued a woman who was allegedly under attack by a male suspect.
Waverly police say that on May 11, 2023 at approximately 6:04 PM, the their officers responded to the 1900 block of Heritage Way in reference to a disturbance call. Upon arrival, the Waverly Officer heard a female voice yelling for help from inside an apartment. As the officer entered the apartment, they observed a male subject straddling a female on the floor. Upon further investigation, Jonathan S. Vieira (33) of Waverly, was arrested for:
– Domestic Abuse Assault – Impeding Air/Blood Flow Causing Bodily Injury (Class D Felony)
– Child Endangerment (Aggravated Misdemeanor).
Vieira was booked into the Bremer County Jail and soon posted bond and was released. He entered a not-guilty plea and awaits a jury trial this August.
