MASON CITY – The Mason City Conference Board will be meeting on Tuesday, February 26th, 2013, at 12:00 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Conference Room at City Hall.

A public hearing will be held on the Mason City Assessor’s FY 2013-2014 budget and a FY 2012-2013 budget amendment.

The Conference Board is made up of three entities: The entire City Council and Mayor; the Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors; and the Mason City School Board.

The Conference Board recently gave City Assessor Dana Naumann the green light to go ahead on a $1 million project to re-appraise all residential and commercial property in Mason City, which will take years to complete.

The project will be funded by new taxes for Mason City property owners under the City Assessor. Naumann said that the cost to a $100,000 property owner will be about $11 per year for the next five years.  This fall’s property tax bill will show the first increase.

This meeting will give the public a chance to address the board on the assessor’s budget.
