MASON CITY – Friday at about 11:15 AM, Mason City police, fire and ambulance all responded to a fire call at Mercy Hospital east campus, 1000 4th Street SW. A construction worker tripped an alarm, which summoned authorities.
Exact figures are not immediately available from the Mason City Fire Department, but false alarms at Mercy seem to be fairly common. Sources tell NIT that a false alarm typically costs taxpayers between $500 and $800 after all the expenses such as wages, fuel, wear on vehicles, etc, are totaled.
Mercy Hospital is not charged by the city for false alarm calls.
Remember here folks, Mercy pays no city property tax. What a deal!!! I think they should pay their fair share. If you didn’t pay property taxes do you think your street would be plowed? I think not!!
Numbers seem high, just trying to stir the pot.
I heard Olmstead county bills non-profits for this kind of thing. For example, Mayo has to pay…
COULD YOU IMAGINE IF THE PLACE REALLY HAD A FIRE
