Branstad statement on the sale of E15

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Terry E. Branstad released the following statement regarding the EPA’s decision of the sale of E15:

“I am pleased with the announcement (Friday) regarding the EPA’s decision on the sale of E15. It’s a timely coincidence that earlier today, I proclaimed June 15, 2012 as “Iowa Ethanol Day” on the 34 year anniversary of the first gallon of ethanol blended gas being sold in our state. The Lt. Governor and I support the expanded opportunities that clean and economical renewable fuels hold for the state.”

Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds released the following statement regarding the EPA’s decision of the sale of E15:

“As a leading state in biofuels production, Iowa lawmakers proactively passed legislation in the 2011 session in support of E15. Today’s announcement is another step forward for the biofuels industry, which helps our state’s economy, jobs and local communities. The Governor and I will continue to be a strong voice for the biofuels industry, as future advancements are made.”

On June 15, 2012, the EPA approved the first plans for satisfying the misfueling mitigation conditions of the E15 partial waivers. Read more about that here.
