WEBSTER CITY — A Northern Iowa house fire sent one man to the hospital and forced firefighters to rescue several animals from the burning residence Thursday afternoon.

The Webster City Fire Department was called to a possible house fire at 1113 Bank Street at approximately 4:26 p.m. on July 30, 2026.

When Engine 33 arrived, firefighters found smoke pouring from the eaves, windows and doors of the home. Crews declared a working fire and deployed teams to attack the flames and search the property.

Firefighters were able to quickly bring the blaze under control.

While assessing the property, crews found an adult man behind the residence who needed medical attention. He was transported to Van Diest Medical Center for treatment. The extent of his injuries was not released.

Several animals were also found inside the home and removed by firefighters. A primary search of the residence found no other people inside.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Webster City Fire Department was assisted by Van Diest Medical Center, the Webster City Police Department and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
