Body found in Webster County is male, homicide victim

iowa dept of public safetyWebster County, IOWA — Law enforcement investigating the found remains of a white male in Webster County have made significant progress. In the last 24 hours, the victim’s identity has been confirmed.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the victim is 22 year old Steven Richard Fisher. Fisher’s manner of death has been categorized as homicide. Investigators are approaching the investigation accordingly and consider the circumstances suspicious.

Background:

On Tuesday July 9, 2013 Fisher’s employer reported to law enforcement that Fisher was missing.

On July 10, 2013, at 5:40 PM, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call in regards to possible human remains found in the roadside ditch in the 2500 mile of Madison Avenue in Webster County. Webster County Deputies responded to the location and did find human remains of an unidentified white, adult male. The Webster County Medical Examiner was contacted and the remains were sent to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and cause of death.

This continuing investigation is being conducted by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Webster County Medical Examiner, State Medical Examiner’s Office, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Dodge Police Department, and Iowa State Patrol.
