(DES MOINES) – Gov. Branstad is ordering all flags in the state to be flown at half-staff from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow to honor those who perished in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.

9/11 is on a Tuesday again. I don’t think we’ll ever forget that morning. I was on a chat list with a friend who lives close to Camp David and she was terrified when that false report was aired that Camp David had been attacked. Another friend on the list had a husband who had colleagues from Deloitte and Touche lost in the Towers. Tom Burnett on Flight 93 was the 1st cousin of some of my high school friends and the nephew of another friend. It was getting way too personal. It was my day off from work and I remember feeling too sick to work anyway. It was impossible to leave the TV even though it would have been healthier. I pity people who think freedom is the wrong way of life.
