Rock Falls Lounge liquor license suspended

ROCK FALLS – The Iowa Alcohol Beverage Division has imposed two $1,500 fines against the Rock Falls Lounge located at 3 East Mill Street in Rock Falls for serving minors alcohol. In addition, the Iowa Alcohol Beverage Division suspended the bar’s liquor license for 30 consecutive days for a 2nd offense in a two year period of sales of alcohol to a minor.

The suspension began at 6 AM on Monday, February 4th and is set to end at 6 AM on Wednesday, March 6th.

In addition, the Iowa Alcohol Beverage Division suspended the bar’s liquor license for 60 consecutive days for a 3rd offense in a two year period of sales of alcohol to a minor.

The suspension is set to start at 6 AM on Friday, November 1st and end on 6 AM on Tuesday, December 31st.

According to the complaint, an employee or agent of the Rock Falls Lounge sold or supplied a person under the legal age an alcoholic beverage on April 2nd, 2011 and again on July 14th, 2011 causing the upcoming suspension of their license to sale liquor.

Cerro Gordo County property records also indicate the property tax for the Rock Falls business has been delinquent since October 1st, 2012.

David Despenas, who owns the Rock Falls Lounge is also the owner of Spike’s Tap and Grill in Mason City. Cerro Gordo County property records also indicate the property tax for the Mason City business has also been delinquent since October 1st, 2012.
