MASON CITY – A false alarm at the Historic Park Inn Hotel in downtown Mason City brought out fire trucks, ambulance and Mason City Police over the noon hour.
“We are just fine here, it’s just a false alarm,” a woman working at the front desk said. Two fireman stood by, discussing the situation. Another brought a ladder inside.
Fire trucks, police and an ambulance were all parked outside on West State Street, well off of the curb, but cars continued to drive by slowly and gawk at the situation. It was only until the ambulance pulled out to block the road did people not attempt to drive down the street.
