Shane Eugene Ward, 48 of Mason City, remembered for simple pleasures and love of family

MASON CITY — Shane Eugene Ward, 48, a lifelong Mason City resident who enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, snowmobiles and time with those closest to him, died Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. Services for Shane will be private.

MASON CITY — Shane Eugene Ward, 48, a lifelong Mason City resident who enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, snowmobiles and time with those closest to him, died Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center.

Services for Shane will be private.

Born May 12, 1978, in Mason City, Shane was the son of Terry and Andrea (Peterson) Ward. Mason City remained his home throughout his life.

Shane found happiness in straightforward pleasures and favorite pastimes. Hunting was part of his younger years, while fishing became another way he enjoyed spending his time. He also had an interest in motorcycles and snowmobiles and occasionally enjoyed a trip to the casino.

Most importantly, Shane leaves behind a large family and many people who knew and cared about him.

Survivors include his children, Madelynn (Chase), Trinity (Natalie), Maximus, Riddick, Nathan (Vianca), Alex, Josye and Ryder; his grandson, Tate; brothers Tony Peterson and Brandon Ward; longtime friends Jessica Hjelle and Nicole Anderson; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Terry and Andrea Ward.
