CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man barred from driving was nabbed behind the wheel not once, but twice, and now faces serious charges.
According to Charles City police, on March 7, 2024, officers conducted a traffic stop at 12:45 AM in the 1500 block of South Main Street. After an investigation, it was determined that the driver, 43-year-old Corey Lee Stigney (pictured at top) of Charles City was driving while barred, with no insurance, and no SR-22 insurance. Further, cops allegedly discovered drug paraphernalia, controlled substances including meth, marijuana and a prescription medical that wasn’t his.
Stigney was arrested on the traffic and drug charges (various serious and aggravated misdemeanors) and jailed. Records show he was released that same day. He is scheduled for arraignment on April 19.
Records show Charles City police arrested Stigney again on March 20 for driving while barred. He was released hours later.
