GREENE — James Peter Nixt, 89, of Greene, died Monday, August 3, 2026.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Greene.
Burial will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene.
A public visitation will be held before the funeral. Additional service information is available through Woodley Funeral Home.
James was born March 22, 1937, and spent his life in the Greene area, where he became known as a hardworking farmer and respected member of the community.
Farming was more than an occupation for James. It was a way of life that reflected his strong work ethic, patience and appreciation for the land.
Through long days and changing seasons, he remained devoted to the responsibilities of farm life and took pride in the work that helped support his family.
James will be remembered most for the love and loyalty he showed to those closest to him.
He valued family gatherings, familiar conversations and the simple moments shared with relatives, neighbors and friends. His steady presence and many years of experience made him someone others could rely upon.
During his 89 years, James witnessed tremendous changes in agriculture and rural life while remaining connected to the traditions and values that shaped his generation.
His memory will continue through the family members, friends and Greene-area neighbors whose lives he touched.
