FOREST CITY — Sharon Kay Renshaw, 89, a devoted farm wife and mother whose life was grounded in faith, family and love, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Good Samaritan Society in Forest City.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, at Schott Funeral Home, 505 North Clark Street in Forest City, with Harlan Nyhus officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the service.
Sharon’s final resting place will be near Lake of the Woods in Canada, where she will be reunited with her husband, Fred.
Born July 14, 1937, to Garmon and Alvada Fosse Helvick, Sharon graduated from Forest City High School. She married Fred Renshaw on August 3, 1954, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua.
Sharon and Fred farmed near Lake Mills and raised three children. As a dedicated farm wife and mother, Sharon poured her energy into caring for her family and creating a welcoming home filled with warmth and love.
Family adventures became a treasured part of Sharon’s life. During their earlier years, the Renshaws enjoyed fishing trips and vacations in Northern Minnesota. Sharon and Fred later traveled across the United States in their recreational vehicle and visited numerous countries.
They eventually made their home on Pine Mountain Lake near Backus, Minnesota, where Sharon became involved in the real estate business. The couple later moved to Lake of the Woods near Sioux Narrows, Canada, while spending their winters in Green Valley, Arizona.
Sharon enjoyed golfing, boating, snowmobiling and gathering with family and friends. She loved entertaining and hosting parties and also devoted time to gardening, sewing, knitting and quilting. An excellent cook, Sharon took pride in preparing food for the people she loved. She was involved in 4-H, and she and Fred also belonged to a square dancing club.
Her gentle spirit, kind heart and unwavering love touched those fortunate enough to know her. Her family finds comfort in their many shared memories and in the legacy of strength, kindness and selfless devotion she leaves behind.
Sharon is survived by her children, Sheila and Tom Harmon of Bemidji, Minnesota, James and Barb Renshaw of Lake Mills, and Jill and Rick Trevisani of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Laurie Hillis of South Jordan, Utah; her brother-in-law, Robert and Heather Renshaw of Richardson, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred, in 2018; her brothers, Frank and Michael Helvick; and her sister-in-law, Patricia Millard.
