CHARLES CITY — A man from Mexico was arrested Friday night after Charles City police responded to a reported harassment incident.
Police were called to the 2100 block of Clark Street at approximately 8 p.m. on August 1, 2026.
Following the investigation, officers arrested 29-year-old Luis Lopez, listed by police as being from Mexico.
Lopez (pictured at top) was accused of third-degree harassment, driving without a license and operating a vehicle without insurance.
He was booked into the Floyd County Jail at 9:14 p.m.
Court records show Lopez was formally charged with third-degree harassment, a simple misdemeanor, in Floyd County case 02341 SMCR031066.
He was issued a promise to appear for an initial court hearing scheduled for 8:45 a.m. on August 10.
Jail records show Lopez was transferred to another facility at 8:22 a.m. on August 3. The available information does not identify that facility or explain the reason for the transfer.
No disposition has been entered in the case.
Lopez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
