AMES, Iowa – Dec. 30, 2011 – The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is announcing office closures in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
All Iowa DOT offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 16, 2012.
Driver’s license stations
All Iowa DOT driver’s license stations, normally open Tuesday through Saturday, will be closed Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The stations will resume normal hours Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012.

Motor Carrier Permit Center
The Iowa DOT’s Office of Motor Carrier Services, normally open Monday through Friday, will be closed Monday, Jan. 16, 2012. Normal business hours will resume at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012.
Oversize/overweight loads are allowed to move on this holiday, as long as permits are obtained in advance.
The Office of Motor Carrier Services, located at 6310 SE Convenience Blvd. in Ankeny, is a one-stop source for fuel, trip and oversize load permits; International Registration Plan (IRP) registration; International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) licensing; and travel authority needed by motor carriers and commercial vehicle operators to operate in Iowa.
