Seeking volunteers to assist in tree planting project

MASON CITY – Thanks to a grant from Alliant Energy and Trees Forever, fifty trees will be planted at the Frederick Hanford Adult Softball Complex. The City Volunteer program is seeking volunteers to assist with this project.

“We will need lots of hands to help plant the trees. The holes will be ready for placement, anchoring and mulching the variety of trees that will eventually provide shade to the complex visitors and players,” stated Mary Zishka, Mason City’s volunteer service coordinator.

The project will begin at 8:00 on Thursday, May 5. To assure an accurate account of volunteers, please contact Zishka at 421-3372 or mzishka@masoncity.net. The volunteer program is seeking families, clubs, schools and businesses to assist with this project. With enough volunteers, the project should be completed by 1:00 p.m.

In case of rain, the project will be re-scheduled to May 12.
