WESTGATE — A Northern Iowa man was jailed after a Fayette County traffic stop allegedly turned up a distribution amount of methamphetamine and marijuana late Saturday night.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy conducted a traffic stop at approximately 11:15 PM on June 28, 2026, near the intersection of W Avenue and 100th Street near Westgate.
After an investigation, authorities said a probable-cause search was conducted on the vehicle.
During the search, deputies allegedly found and seized a distribution amount of methamphetamine under the passenger seat. Marijuana was also allegedly found and seized from the vehicle.
Daryl Milton Jones, 59, of Sumner, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a Class B felony, and possession of a controlled substance, third offense, marijuana, a Class D felony.
Jones was taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail, where he awaited initial appearance.
Custody records show Jones was booked into the Fayette County Jail at 12:50 AM on June 29, 2026. He remained in custody as of 7:26 PM that evening.
A Class B felony in Iowa is punishable by up to 25 years in prison. A Class D felony is punishable by up to five years in prison.
The case remains pending. A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and Jones is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
