MASON CITY — The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors set a public hearing for a fiscal year 2026 budget amendment during its regular meeting on May 11, 2026.

The board met at 10:02 a.m. with Chairman Casey Callanan, Vice Chairman Carl Ginapp and Supervisor Chris Watts present. Supervisors approved the agenda, minutes from the May 4 regular session, county claims and the payroll register for the period ending May 2, 2026.

The public hearing for the FY26 budget amendment was scheduled for 10:05 a.m. on May 26, 2026. The board also voted to move its regular May 25 meeting to May 26 because of the Memorial Day holiday.

Supervisors approved Resolution 2026-26, authorizing a payroll change for Cadence Rish in the Conservation Department at $17 per hour, effective May 11, 2026.

The board also authorized Bolton + Menk to conduct a field review in Drainage District 6 after a report of a tile blowout. The work order was listed as 2026-05-05-01 and was reported by Todd Cash.

Supervisors approved a 12-month Iowa Retail Cigarette/Tobacco/Nicotine/Vapor Permit for Pine Creek Golf Club, effective July 1, 2026. The board also approved a professional services contract with Cost Advisory Services, Inc. for preparation of the county’s cost allocation plan for fiscal years 2026, 2027 and 2028, and authorized the chair to sign the agreement.

The board approved the Sheriff’s Monthly Report of Fees, dock permits 53P and 58P, and reports from the Environmental Health Service Manager concerning manure management plan updates for Dogwood Double Wide – Franklin Farms, site #65907, and Finch Single Wide – Franklin Farms, site #63675. Those reports will be forwarded to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

County Engineer Brandon Billings also provided an update during the meeting.

Claims approved by the board totaled $369,177.51. Among the larger claims were $87,000 to Wellmark Blue Cross for purchased services, $73,851.88 to Card Custom Audio/Video for equipment, $30,660.56 to Office Elements, $17,517.50 to B-Three Solutions for consulting, and $14,934.50 to Mason City Lumber Co. for building remodeling.
