OBIT: Norman J Wright

Norman John Wright passed away on August 5, 2025 at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of 89.

Norman John Wright, son of Claude and Clara (Bleckman) Wright was born at home in Palo Alto County, Iowa on May 5, 1936. He passed away on August 5, 2025 at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of 89.

Following his schooling, Norm worked for area farmers and Fagre Construction. On October 12, 1957, he was united in marriage to Lavonne Leonard at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville. The couple made their home in Estherville. He was the Maintenance Supervisor for Estherville Schools for many years. Following his retirement he and Lavonne wintered in Texas for a few winters.

Norm was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville. Norm was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, and taking care of his yard. He also like to watch Westerns and complete word searches. Norm will be remembered as a quiet man with a strong work ethic. He passed this trait on to his children and grandchildren.

Norman is survived by his wife of 67 years Lavonne, his children Linda Wolfe of Fairmont, Minnesota, Tim Wright of Estherville, Iowa, Norm (Christine) Wright of McKinney, Texas, and Scott (Lisa) Wright of Charles City, Iowa. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Norm is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Leo and Ruth (Donahue) Leonard, and his siblings Dorothy Hanrahan, Beverly Wright, Donald Wright, Kermit Wright, and Melvin Wright.
