Introvigne highlights the role of figures such as Alexander Dvorkin, whom he describes as a pseudo-scholar.
According to Introvigne, Dvorkin acts as a mouthpiece for the Russian Orthodox Church. The objective is to deliberately target “competing” spiritual movements, using this framework as a pretext for the persecution of small minority groups. “Spectacularization also fulfills a specific function: it makes the implausible plausible.”
This process first results in the loss of social standing, then material security, and ultimately health. Character assassination extends far beyond any legal proceedings, as “suspicion” becomes “already structured,” and the verdict itself no longer matters in the minds of observers. Rudnev’s name is now associated, in some media outlets, with danger and “cult,” rather than with simple spirituality.
After his release from prison in Russia, Rudnev merely wanted to quietly restore his health, which had been severely damaged by the conditions of his incarceration. However, despite seeking peace, the persecution did not stop at Russia’s borders. The Kremlin’s narrative has followed Rudnev ever since he first became a person of interest. Countless groups have been targeted — from Evangelicals and Krishna devotees to individuals who criticize the government. As a result, the Kremlin’s campaign against Rudnev continues. And as for Konstantin Rudnev himself, he no longer seeks or wishes to engage in spiritual teaching; he simply wants to live a quiet and peaceful life with his family, free from the shadow of constant and unjust persecution.
