DOUGHERTY – A Hampton woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries Thursday morning after a two-vehicle crash in rural Cerro Gordo County.
The crash happened at approximately 9:50 a.m. on May 21, 2026, at the intersection of 150th Street and Vine Avenue near Dougherty, according to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said Todd Franke, 51, of Dumont, was driving a 2003 GMC Sierra. Gregory Kulow, 67, of Hampton, was driving a 2025 Freightliner registered to D & L Sanitation of Sheffield.
Authorities said all parties were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Airbags deployed in the GMC Sierra.
A passenger, Taylor Mahler, 19, of Hampton, was transported by the Mason City Fire Department to MercyOne in Mason City for minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Rockwell Fire Department, Mason City Fire Department and Lake Towing.
