PHOTO OF THE DAY: Phil Sanchez of Mason City was joined by others Thursday in front of the Globe Gazette. The protestors were pleading with incumbent city government candidates Mayor Eric Bookmeyer, Scott Tornquist, Travis Hickey and Janet Solberg to attend candidate debates. "A lot of people say that Eric Bookmeyer is a coward. They don't speak too highly of the rest of them either," one man said.

“A lot of people say that Eric Bookmeyer is a coward. They don’t speak too highly of the rest of them either,” one man said.  Speaking for all four candidates, Bookmeyer told the Globe Gazette, where he is purchasing numerous advertisements and has been given free columns, that he and his council members will never attend.

  1. A one man protest is better then a no man protest. Where are you people who run off at the mouth? Why aren’t you there instead of sitting in your closet bashing someone getting off his butt and really doing something? Incase you have forgotten “actions speak LOUDER than words. Oh ya I forgot someone might recognize you and know who you are without your mask to hide behind.

  2. On Facebook Solbergs saying Max threatened to put a bullet to her head. They are really getting desperate! Anybody who knows Max knows better. Solbergs opening her mouth now but couldn’t respond to people in her Ward when they asked a respectful question. Seems like the average person is beneath her.

    1. Not to worry. Max cannot complete a thought so it follows he couldn’t follow up on a threat if it was made.

      1. That’s really funny Nichole. Fact of the matter is…Max can and WILL complete more than just thoughts. He will actually get things done for the people of MC unlike your boy toy Bookmeyer. Does his wife know about you two?

  3. Lets make an outlandish assumption that Bookmeyer wins. There has to be moral clauses in the city laws that would allow a recall if he is caught drunk outside of his house.,

  4. Sounds like our Mayor has collected quite a number of nicknames: Crookmeyer, Beermeyer, Beermister, & now his wife has his you-know-whats in her purse! Poor guy, no wonder he acts like he does. Oh ya, don’t forget Mrs. Easley’s comment about him being “a snake in the grass.” Poor Crookie!!!!!

  5. Prolly should get back to work or back to the garage !

Congrats on freedom and the truth protestors!

    Good job!

    1. So you know they don’t have jobs? What are the winning lottery numbers this weekend you all wonderous Oracle?

Bookie prolly needs to grow a set and be at the debate. He won’t tho…his wife has them in her purse…what little he has.

  6. Yeah, just think if Steve King or Barack Obama or Peter L didn’t want to debate….all hell would break loose.

  7. To say the very least that is

    F U N N Y !

Goes to show you how all f’ed up the clan really is!

Head over to city hall next!

    1. Who was the turd in the gold hawkeye truck that drove by….. twice? Did he hurt his neck staring? Tee hee.

  8. If incumbent presidents participate in debates with their opponent, then why do our local officials feel it is not their duty to participate in debates.

It would appear they are not being transparent.
