Treasurer at Iowa courthouse accused of felonious conduct

MADISON COUNTY, IOWA - An Iowa woman serving as a county treasurer is accused of a swath of felony crimes after she allegedly faked the payment of her auto registration.

MADISON COUNTY, IOWA – An Iowa woman serving as a county treasurer is accused of a swath of felony crimes after she allegedly faked the payment of her auto registration.

On January 31, 2025 and following an investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison County Treasurer Amanda Devos (pictured at top) age 37 of Winterset, Iowa, has been arrested and charged with:

– Felonious Misconduct in Office

– Tampering with Records

– Fraudulent Practices 3rd Degree

– Theft 3rd Degree

These charges stem from Devos’ duties as Madison County Treasurer. The investigation is on-going and additional charges pending, the local sheriff says.

Iowa Auditor Rob Sand said, “We are aware of multiple issues in Madison County and have been working with local officials on appropriate courses of action.”
