MN man found guilty of sticking-up Klemme Town Mart

GARNER – On Nov. 25th, 2011 the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call to report an armed robbery at the Klemme Town Mart.

After investigation by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Luis Ramon Cruz-Ayabarreno, age 36, of Jackson Minnesota, was arrested and charged with First Degree Robbery.

On February 27th, 2013 a trial was held in Hancock County District Court. On February 28th 2013, the jury found him guilty of first degree robbery.

A person commits robbery in the first degree when, while perpetrating a robbery, the person purposely inflicts or attempts to inflict serious injury, or is armed with a dangerous weapon. Robbery in the first degree is a class “B” felony.

Sentencing is set for April 15th 2013 at 10 a.m. in Hancock County District Court.

Other agencies assisting with the investigation were the Britt Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County, Minnesota, Sheriff’s Office, Hancock County Attorney’s Office, and the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.
