Poll: Gun control supporters more disappointed than angry

gunWASHINGTON, April 24 (UPI) — Americans have mixed feelings about the U.S. Senate vote last week that rejected gun control legislation, a national poll reported Wednesday.

Supporters of the failed legislation said they were more disappointed than angry about the vote, the Pew Research Center reported.

The poll some 32 percent were “disappointed,” while 15 percent characterized themselves as “angry” about the result.

Some 20 percent said they were “very happy,” and 19 percent said they were “relieved.”

The poll’s findings reflected a partisan split on the issue of gun control measures such as background checks.

Some 52 percent of Republicans said they were either very happy or relieved the legislation was voted down, while 67 percent of Democrats harbored negative feelings.

Those who had the strongest feelings, pro or con, about the vote were people who had closely followed debate about the gun control proposals, Pew said.

The poll’s results parallel findings of a Pew survey in February in which 50 percent of respondents said they favored gun control, while 46 percent favored gun rights.

However, the same poll found 83 percent of those surveyed favored background checks for guns sales between two private parties and at gun shoes.

The poll of 1,002 adults was conducted April 18-21. The margin of error was calculated at 3.7 percent and 7.6 percent, depending on the groups surveyed.

Oh my god. The 90% was people who wanted some sort of gun control.

This poll is the people who are disappointed in the outcome of the bill.

Did you see that the above polls different a lot but were taken from 1002 people. To me 83% of 1002 means absolutely nothing. Now a poll of over 1,000,000 people, that I would believe.

How about 1,000,000,000,000? How many would it take to make you believe that people want responsible gun laws? NOT confiscation, NOT bans, just sensible regulations.

Maybe, how’d you do in math? I’m guessing it wasn’t your best subject. If you poll 1000 people, 10,000 people, or 100,000 people, you’ll still come up with a similar percentage. Why does it matter how many were polled? It’s a sampling!

You don’t like my math then talk to your god because all I did was copy the numbers he said and what was in the article above.

If you poll 1002 people that are anti-gun you will get a higher % number. The more people you poll the higher diversity you will have therefore closer to a more accurate number.

“Oh my god. The 90% was people who wanted some sort of gun control.”

And this poll tells us that the people didn’t want this gun control.

Again, for the marginal folks. The “90%” figure was the one used to promote the upcoming legislation.

This article is discussing how people felt AFTER the legislation.

Two different things.

Do I use too many syllables for you people?

It may have been used to promote the ” upcoming legislation”, but that was not what the poll asked. It asked if you supported more gun control. It made no allowance to elaborate. Did I use too many syllables for you.

The 90% figure was used to promote upcoming legislation.

These results are AFTER the legislation.

I can’t make this any simpler for you.

“The 90% figure was used to promote upcoming legislation.

Yes

“These results are AFTER the legislation.”

Yes

But what you fail to do is resolve the 2 polls. Why doesn’t this new poll show 90% of the people “angry” or “disappointed”. Something that you would expect from the first poll.

What it does show is that the first poll was flawed. It didn’t go far enough to determine what type of gun control the responders wanted.

There is nothing to resolve! They are two entirely different questions! Good grief, you’re thick!

32% Americans polled are “diappointed” + 16% Americans polled are “angry” = 48% Americans “disappointed” or “angry”. This is nowhere near the touted 90% the administration was using to support this legislation.

67% of the “Democrates” harbored negative feelings. Again not near the touted 90%.

The person who is thick is you. You cannot concieve that the poll used to push this legislation was flawed (for this purpose of this legislation).

Uh.. you realize that these are two entirely different polls with entirely different questions to two entirely different groups of people, right? Did you think that THIS group’s answers to THIS poll should somehow reflect on THAT group’s answers to THAT poll? Is that what you think?

Once more, with feeling… 90% of Americans want background checks. This bill had entirely different language than some vague notion of “background checks”. The people polled for this poll are voting on the language of this bill, not the generic “background checks”. I’m worn out from knocking on your cement noggin.

Once more, THE ADMINISTRATION touted the poll as 90% of Americans were for more gun control as proposed by this legislation. The President touted that number, that poll in an attempt to pass this legislation. Unfortunately you cannot see this. You worn out? From what you done nothing but spout the same, tired worn out “gospel” you see as truth.

“Uh.. you realize that these are two entirely different polls with entirely different questions to two entirely different groups of people, right? Did you think that THIS group’s answers to THIS poll should somehow reflect on THAT group’s answers to THAT poll? Is that what you think?”

By jove I think he fianally got it! However do you think you could explain this to the White House?

“Again, for the marginal folks. The “90%” figure was the one used to promote the upcoming legislation.”

The numbers he spews from his mouth all depends on who he is talking to at the time. If he is talking to the anti-gun nuts the number is 90%.

Now, where is the 90% we kept hearing about. Funny how each poll is different depending on who does it.
