AMES – Iowa State (10-5, 1-1 Big 12) defeated Kansas (10-3, 0-2 Big 12), 78-64 on Wednesday afternoon. The Cyclones shot 55 percent from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range in the victory.
Audi Crooks shined again by scoring 33 points in the win and snagging seven boards. Emily Ryan had 19 points and six assists for the Cyclones. Addy Brown recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Crooks opened with the game’s first four points to give the Cyclones an early 4-0 lead. After a Kansas basket, Emily Ryan got her first points of the game with a layup to put the Cyclones ahead 6-2. Crooks tallied six more points to crack the double-figures mark with 3:25 left in the first quarter and give ISU a 13-8 advantage. Crooks ended the first quarter scoring 16 of the Cyclones’ 19 points as the Cyclones took a six point lead into the second.
Ryan broke the scoring seal for the Cyclones in the second quarter, drilling a three to extend the lead to 22-15 with 8:30 left in the period. Addy Brown followed with a triple of her own to push the lead to double digits. Sydney Harris got on the board with her first three with four minutes left in the quarter. Kansas would pull within six before an Alisa Williams and-one put the Cyclones back ahead by nine. The Jayhawks responded again, however, cutting the lead to just 36-33 heading into halftime.
Brown opened the second half scoring for both teams with a layup to give the Cyclones a five point lead. Kansas proceeded to score five in a row to tie the game before a Crooks and-one would put the Cyclones back ahead. The next few minutes would see back and forth action as the Cyclones would take a 50-44 lead into the third quarter media timeout. Crooks scored the next six Cyclone points, and ISU ended up taking a 56-48 lead into the fourth quarter.
Iowa State tallied the first six points of the final period, forcing a Jayhawk timeout with 8:27 remaining. The Cyclones kept their grip on the lead and took a 68-55 lead into the final media timeout. Crooks passed the 30-point mark with 2:40 left in the game with two free throws and also put the Cyclones up by 20 with the points. Iowa State would win by a final of 78-64.

Audi Crooks totaled 33 points on over 72 percent from the field. Crooks also added seven rebounds and one assist in 31 minutes.
