MANCHESTER, IOWA – Drunk drivers sometimes never learn their lesson and it takes the ever-watchful eye of cops in the sky to stop their dangerous games.

Iowa State Patrol Trooper Pilot Grim had “a nice catch,” the agency reported Saturday.

Evidently, the Patrol claims a particularly fast vehicle – a Ford Mustang – was racing through Northern Iowa at upwards of 126 miles per hour. Research show top models pack 815 horsepower, 664 lb-ft of torque, and a top speed of 202 mph – so things could have been worse. This incident occurred at the interchange of US Highway 20 and Highway 13 near Manchester, Iowa.

Pilot Grim communicated with his ground support, who stopped the alleged criminal. An investigation showed that the scofflaw is a convicted drunk driver, was unable to show SR-22 insurance and has a revoked license.

“Unbelievable!” the Patrol exclaimed, in possibly feigned disbelief, as Iowa is loaded with drivers who have been caught driving while under the influence. The Patrol offered photographic proof of the pilot’s stopwatch showing the crime (at top.)
