Frederick Mulling, 64 passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He fought a good fight, but our faith reminds us he’s in a peaceful place.
Frederick Mulling was born April 4, 1960, the son of Carl A. “J.R.” and Sharon (Jones) Mulling. Moving with his Father’s military career, Fred saw much of the US from an early age. Following High School he enlisted into the United States Army at 17 years old, being trained as a parachuter, jumping out of planes. He served for 11 years until his honorable discharge, eventually returning to North Iowa. For many years Fred worked in small engine repair, tinkering the days away. With the right tools and his excellent problem solving skills, he could fix just about anything.
On February 9, 2011 he married Leah Sander in Mason City.
Fred always had a good joke lined up and reveled in the laughter of others. He had a calm and collected demeanor, never letting anything get too serious. Most of all, he loved his family dearly including his many four legged best friends. Maggie, Remey, Tank and Andy were the highlights of his days. His children and grandchildren were his world and he loved them beyond measure.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Leah; children, Kevin Mulling, Kyle (Stacy) Mulling, Jennifer (Justin) Schuttler, Charity (Brian Sachen) Stucker, and Tiffany Weimann; grandchildren, Quinzey, Jadince, Justine, Jacey, Carter, Zoey, Piper, Axel, Ethan, Jeyda, Jordan, Kirya, Hyden, and Kolan; siblings, Rick, Patty and Carla; as well as extended family and many friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; sister, Teresa; and infant brothers, Patrick, Eugene and Dale.
