NEW HAMPTON – A male teen was arrested after an alleged threat was made to a school in New Hampton.
On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, the New Hampton Police Department was notified by administration of the New Hampton Community Schools of a possible threat against the school regarding a shooting.
The New Hampton Police Department immediately began an investigation into the threat. The investigating officer was in close contact with school administers throughout the investigation.
On the morning of September 22, 2022, officers of the New Hampton Police Department made contact with a 15-year-old juvenile male where he was taken into custody on the following charges:
• Threat of Terrorism (D Felony)
The juvenile was transported to the North Iowa Juvenile Detention center in Waterloo. Due to the age of the offender in this incident and throughout the investigation, no names will be released.
The incident has been thoroughly investigated and it has been determined that there is no credible evidence of an active threat to students or staff.
The New Hampton Police Department strongly encouraged parents to speak with their children concerning the consequences of their actions.
