AGUADILLA, PUERTO RICO – US Border Patrol Agents apprehended this month 59 Haitian migrants after they disembarked in the coast of Rincon.
Ramey Station Border Patrol Agents detected a makeshift “yola” type vessel approaching the coast near Pools Beach. Upon arrival, Haitians migrants are gathered in Pools Beach Rincon, PRany markings or registration. The vessel contained foreign branded food products.
The Border Patrol Agents searched the immediate area and apprehended a group of 59 non-citizens (23 adult females, 35 adult males and 1 male juvenile).
Agents transported the group to the Ramey Station for immigration processing and removal.
The Ramey Sector is one of the twenty-one Sectors spread out across the United States. Encompassing the U.S. territorial islands of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, it is the only Border Patrol Sector located outside the continental United States. The Sector’s entire border area is made up of coastline and its area of responsibility is made up of some 6,000 square miles of land and water area, including the twelve-mile band of territorial water surrounding the Islands.
Days later, US Border Patrol Agents apprehended Saturday 60 Haitian migrants after they disembarked in Cabo Rojo.
“People who venture to sea to enter the United States illegally not only expose themselves to being victims of smuggling organizations, but they also risk the lives of the law enforcement men and women who rescue them,” indicated Scott Garrett, Action Chief Patrol Agent for Ramey Sector.
Ramey Station Border Patrol Agents along with personnel from the Puerto Rico Police Department discovered a makeshift “yola” type vessel making entry into Combate Beach.
Upon arrival to the area the Border Patrol Agents encountered 60 non-citizens claiming to be from Haiti (34 adult males, 22 adult females, 2 accompanied juvenile males, 1 UAC male) and one adult female claiming to be from the Dominican Republic.
Agents transported the group to the Ramey Station for immigration processing and removal.
