Trump on election: “He won” then later, “I won”

Out-going President Donald Trump

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Amidst a busy weekend filled with golf and tweets about poor ratings and conspiracy theories, outgoing current President Donald J. Trump admitted Joe Biden beat him in the 2020 election.

Trump sent a tweet Sunday about the November 3 election versus President-elect Joe Biden, saying “He won” and then continued on without offering proof, saying the election was “rigged”. The election has been called by most official sources; Biden has over 78 million votes to Trump’s 73 million and well over the needed 270 Electoral Votes needed to claim victory.  Nonetheless, Trump continues to push conspiracy theories in an attempt to tarnish what has been called an efficient fraud-less election by official sources.  He has put Rudy Giuliani in charge of lawsuits and communication in nationwide court battles that have thus far amounted to humiliating losses.

Trump later tweeted on Monday morning “I won the Election!”  The tweet was flagged by Twitter.  Trump’s ongoing hostility to the election that he clearly lost has been backed by his staunch supporters like Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and has fomented fringe far-right supporters to stubbornly claim the election was rigged and wrought with fraud even as no proof can be found to back the claims.  Trump’s campaign continues to bombard citizens with emails begging for financial contributions to continue to fight the election results.  The fine print shows that a large portion of those donations would be used to pay off Trump’s campaign debts and finance a new PAChe is forming.

Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States on January 20, 2021.
