MASON CITY – Cops located and chased a wanted man in Mason City and once caught, found a large quantity of suspected meth and a loaded .25 caliber handgun.
On December 12, 2019, at about 2:49am, a Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs Deputy located Marcus Houston Jones in the 1400 block of North Rhode Island in Mason City. Jones was wanted on warrants for carrying weapons, possession of a firearm as a felon, and interference with official acts from a traffic stop by the same Deputy on December 6, 2019. When the Deputy approached Jones, who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, Jones again fled on foot. Jones was apprehended a short time later hiding inside of a garage. A search warrant for Jones’ vehicle resulted in located a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine and a loaded .25 caliber handgun. Jones was transported to the Cerro Gordo County jail and served his warrants from the December 6 incident and charged with the following new violations: possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, fail to affix a drug tax stamp, possession of a firearm as a felon, carrying weapons, and interference with official acts. Jones is being held for no bond in the Cerro Gordo County jail. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Mason City Police and Iowa State Patrol.
