Iowa man charged in Shenandoah murder

SHENANDOAH, IOWA – An Iowa man has been charged with first-degree murder in Shenandoah, Iowa.

On Monday, April 22, 2019, at approximately 4:45AM, the Shenandoah Police Department received a 911 call regarding a shooting that had just taken place at 901 Manti Street in Shenandoah.

Responding officers located a deceased white male inside the residence. Witnesses who called 911 and reported the shooting identified the shooter as 34-year-old Toby McCunn. At or about 2:07 PM, McCunn was located at a residence in Shenandoah and taken into custody without further incident. McCunn was initially transported to the Shenandoah Medical Center for an injury to his leg. McCunn was later transported to the Page County Correctional Facility. McCunn has been charged with Murder in the 1st degree.

The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Joshua Lyle Jordan. An autopsy will be performed at a later date by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny, Iowa.

Several Agencies are working the investigation to include the Shenandoah Police Department, the Page County Sheriff’s Office, the Page County Attorney’s Office, Red Oak Police Department, Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, the Mills County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating. The investigation is ongoing, no other information will be released until after family members have been notified and the forensic autopsy has been completed.
