Mason City to conduct two public forums on proposed Renaissance Project for downtown

MASON CITY – The City of Mason City will conduct two public forums to present information related to the River City Renaissance Project.

The forums will be held on September 28, 2017 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm and October 7, 2017 from 10:30 am to Noon. The public forums will be held in the FEMA Room at the High School/John Adams Middle School. Attendees will reach the FEMA Room by entering through the John Adams Cafeteria doors which are located to the left of the FEMA Room.

The River City Renaissance Project is the name of the Iowa Reinvestment District project that has been provisionally approved by the Iowa Economic Development Authority for $7.1 million in funding. The City of Mason City is seeking up to $10 million in funding for the project. The project includes the following components: Multi-Purpose Arena, Performing Arts Pavilion, New Downtown 100 room Hotel, New Meredith Willson Museum, Renovated Museum space for conventions, and a Skywalk to go between the Museum and Music Man Square. City officials will give a presentation at the beginning of the public forum to explain the project and then a question and answer period will follow the presentation.
