Woman and teen die after driver loses control and flips vehicle into Iowa creek

DAVENPORT – A woman and a teen died after a driver lost control and flipped her vehicle into an Iowa creek.

On Monday, August 22, 2022, at approximately 10:56 PM, Davenport Police, Fire, and Medic EMS responded to the 3300 block of N Fairmount Street in reference to a single vehicle crash with entrapment.

Preliminary investigation indicates a Ford Escape was travelling southbound on Fairmount Street when the driver lost control of the vehicle crossing the centerline, hitting the bridge, before coming to rest on its side in Duck Creek.

At the time of the crash, the vehicle was occupied by five individuals, an adult driver and four juveniles. The driver, a 31-year-old female, was pronounced deceased on scene. A twelve-year-old passenger was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

A ten-year-old passenger was transported to a local hospital and later flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with life-threatening injuries. A nine-month-old and an eight-year-old passenger were transported to a local hospital and were treated and released for minor injuries.

This incident remains under investigation; no further information is available at this time.
