Iowa man jailed after blasting house with shotgun

JANESVILLE – An Iowa man was caught and jailed after he blasted a house with a shotgun.

On January 21, 2017 the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a male subject who used a shotgun to shoot a window at a residence in Janesville. It was also reported that the subject had left the residence and that he was armed.

Dakota John Hewitt, age 22 of Janesville was subsequently arrested and charged with Reckless Use Of A Firearm, Carrying Weapons and Driving While License Revoked. Hewitt was guilty of second-offense operating while intoxicated last year in Bremer county, causing him to lose his license. He has also been charged with violating his probation in this case.

He later posted bond and was released from jail as he awaits a court hearing.
