Cops nab suspect after shots fired incident in Fort Dodge

FORT DODGE - A suspect fired a gun in this Fort Dodge neighborhood and then fled the area, but cops were able to piece together evidence and place him in jail on a felony charge.

FORT DODGE – A suspect fired a gun in this Fort Dodge neighborhood and then fled the area, but cops were able to piece together evidence and place him in jail on a felony charge.

Following the shot fired incident on the morning of Tuesday, October 29, 2024, officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department continued to gather information, spoke to witnesses, and collected evidence. As a result of the on‐going investigation, a suspect was identified.

On Tuesday evening, at approximately 8:12 PM, the suspect was spotted getting into a vehicle in the 2900 block 1st Ave S. Officers conducted a high‐risk traffic stop on the vehicle at 115 S 29th St., in Fort Dodge. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect has been identified as 23‐year‐old Brandon R. Mothershed of Fort Dodge. Mothershed (pictured at top) has been arrested and charged with the following crimes:

– Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon (D Felony)

The Fort Dodge Police Department is continuing to follow up on this incident.

The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office.
