MASON CITY – The NIACC wrestling team topped Rochester Community and Technical College 23-16 in a dual meet Thursday night in the NIACC recreation center.
NIACC picked up wins from Mario Pena (285), Brennen Doebel (125), Jamarius Jackson (133), Austin Anderly (141), Jacob Niichel (149) and Jaylen Lee (184).
Doebel pinned RCTC’s Esteban Teigen in 1 minute, 38 seconds at 125 pounds and Lee stuck RCTC’s Dustin Lee in 4:31 at 184 pounds.
Doebel improved his record to 6-1 with four falls this season. Thursday’s dual was the first for Doebel since he won the consolation bracket in the Class A Division at the Buena Vista Open on Dec. 3.
Lee’s fall at 184 pounds sealed the victory for the Trojans, who were leading 18-16 heading into the final match of the dual.
