MASON CITY – A Mason City woman already facing an assault charge and on probation in connection to a previous assault has now been caught with illegal drugs.
According to the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office, Morgan Kathleen McManigal, age 20, was in possession of the illegal drug marijuana on December 17. She was arrested and jailed until she posted $1,000 surety bond two days later. She entered a not-guilty plea on January 24 and is scheduled for a March 20 pre-trial conference and an April 4 jury trial.
Again according to the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office, McManigal was involved in a physical altercation after 2 AM on December 3, 2016, at a rural Ventura residence that was observed by witnesses. Allegedly, McManigal caused bodily injury to the female victim – an 18-year-old female – who sustained bruising, swelling, and scratches to the face and neck area. She entered a not-guilty plea on January 4 and is scheduled for a February 27 pre-trial conference and an March 14 jury trial.
Mcmanigal has been serving 1 year of probation since September when she pled guilty to first-offense domestic abuse assault; the original charge was felony domestic abuse involving strangulation. So far, Mcmanigal has not been charged with violating that probation.

Why are we having another trial if she is on probation? Just revoke her probation and lock her up. She is not going to change.
