Wanted Kensett woman busted in downtown Mason City

MASON CITY – A Kensett woman who was supposed to serve a jail term for meth possession months ago was finally taken to jail.

Mason City police encountered 27-year-old Peggy Joy Schiefelbein of Kensett Friday afternoon around 2:43 PM at the intersection of State Street and Delaware Avenue in downtown Mason City. Officers determined that Schiefelbein was wanted on a warrant in connection to a meth conviction from back in 2015. She had pled guilty to possession of methamphetamine in August of 2015 and was sentenced to a fine and jail, but never severed her time.

Schiefelbein was taken to the county jail, where she remains this weekend, serving her 2 day sentence.

In addition, Schiefelbein was found to be in possession of an illegal substance during her contact with Mason City police and faces a new charge for that crime.
